Lakeside Yacht Club, Cleveland OH – Lake Erie served up a wide range of conditions from blustery to calming down for just enough wind to get around the course for a total of 11 races over the three day weekend.   John Podmajersky’s Illusion won the regatta by one point in this competitive 12 boat fleet.

North American Circuit

Team Krav Maga won the first day with an impressive two bullets, followed by Podmajersky with two seconds.   Gusty conditions  up to 25 knots and steep seas prevented more than two races the first day.    Racing was fast and furious on Saturday in a light breeze that built to 15 knots.   The race committee ran six short courses that kept everyone moving at full speed.    Crews were kept ashore until almost noon on the final day waiting for the wind to build enough fto get  another three short courses off.  In addition to some great racing, Lakeside served up a fun event, with crew dinners and friendly Midwest hospitality.

The Cleveland regatta ends the 2006 North American Circuit, comprised of Acura Key West Race Week, Annapolis NOOD, Jimmy Fund Regatta and Cleveland.   Nelson Stephenson and his crew on TeamBOLD topped the leader board when scores from their best three out of the four events were added up.

Next up is the North American Championship in Holland, Michigan on September 20-24.
