Australian Farr 30 champion Bruce Eddington and his Victorian team on K2 have won their class in the Rolex Trophy One Design Series which wrapped up today. Teams from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland made the most of the opportunity to race off Sydney Heads where the upcoming Farr 30 Australian Championship will be sailed in February next year. "It was a good series," commented Eddington this afternoon. "Win, lose or draw, this regatta was very good practice for the Nationals". Guy Stening's Farr 30 Optimumm finished second overall after six races ahead of Colin Loel's Asterix in third and Garry Hobson's Don't Tell Mumm in fourth. All four teams will meet again in February for a crack at the Australian title.
Day one of racing for Farr 30's at Rolex Trophy series Also racing in the Farr 30 fleet is Guy Stening, who recently raced in the Farr 30 World Championship in Sardinia finishing fourth in the 40 boat fleet. "It was hard work today and I found it hard to steer in the lumpy seaway but it was good practice for the 2008 Nationals. Colin (Loel) and Guy (Stening) both had great boat speed today. It was a case of getting to the front and staying there today," commented Eddington. |
