John Podmajersky and his Mumm30 Illusion took top honors at the 2005 Great Lakes Championship hosted by the Rochester Yacht Club as part of the 2005 One Design Open, Aug 19-21.
The three-day event consisted of 9 races in breezes from the 9-20 knot range. The competition was intense as usual in the Mumm30 class with the fleet converging at each mark rounding and only minutes separating the fleet at the finish. This event was the final regatta on the Mumm 30 North American Circuit.
“The Rochester Yacht Club did a great job hosting the event”, said Podmajersky “their hospitality was outstanding”. Illusion took home the first ever RYC Perpetual Trophy for Most Boats attending the Regatta and promised to bring it back next year, the event is sure to grow into one of the top-notch regattas on the circuit.
