AUSTRALIAN
TOPS THE DAY
It
is equally tight in the Mumm 30 class but with an increased breeze,
the honours were very much Richard Perini's Foreign Affair with
a second and a first. The Australian, who also sails a Farr 40 in
Sydney named Corinthian Doors, became faster as the day wore on.
He battled all the way round the course with Canadian Andy Roy,
sailing Fred Sherratt's Steadfast in the first race and lost by
five seconds on the finishing line.
In
the second race of the day, Bent Dietrich in Rainbow from Hamburg
in Germany led at the weather mark from Foreign Affair. They were
close but after two more legs, it was Foreign Affair in front and
from that moment the Australian stretched away from the fleet to
finish 49 seconds in front. Class stalwart, Dave Irish in Surprise,
was third.
