Two heavyweights entered the arena on Saturday, having earned the right to spar for the 2006 Mumm 30 North American Championship.  Foreign Affair and Team Pegasus began the day with a one point lead favoring Foreign Affair.  The arena was a perfect race course with two races contested in 16-20 knots of wind with 1.25 mile courses, perfectly laid by Principle Race Officer Barbara Gamache and her crack Race Committee team.

Team Pegasus sailed strongly to two second place finishes to Foreign Affairs 5th in the first race and a race win in the final race.  Team Pegasus accomplished a one point victory over Foreign Affair.   The Pegasus victory resulted from a battle in the last race with their second place in the final race coming down to the final surf as they approached the finish with Turbo Duck, with Pegasus finishing just inches ahead of the charging Turbo Duck.

Turbo Duck had the best day on Saturday with a 1st in Race 9 and a 3rd in Race 10, to move from 7th to 4th Place overall.  Team Krav Maga finished 5th overall with TeamBOLD and Illusion having difficult days on the Race course to finish 6th and 7th overall.

Barking Mad's 3rd place finish at the Mumm30 NAs resulted in a Series win in the 2006 Great Lakes Championship  Series combining with their victory at Toronto Nood Regatta  Second Place in the Great Lakes Championship Series went to Notorious and 3rd Place went to Illusion.

The Mumm 30 North American Championship was a great warm-up for the 2006 World Championship to be held in Miami Beach, Florida November 29-December 2, 2006.  A large international fleet is expected to contest for the coveted Mumm  30 World Championship and great One Design racing is expected, a standard enjoyed by all Mumm 30 owners.

Special thanks to Roger Gamache Associates and Ameriprise for sponsoring the 2006  Mumm 30 North American Championship.  The  Macatawa Bay Yacht Club opened its facilities to the Mumm 30 Class and provided a spectacular racing venue and perfect sailing conditions in winds that were generally 14 knots or higher for most of the racing.  The final day was in wind from 18-22 knots, producing spectacular Mumm 30 Racing.  All the boats were well sailed and the Fleet was treated to the very best of Lake Michigan conditions.
