The pretty village of Marciana Marina (Elba Island) and well experienced Circolo della Vela Marciana Marina was the perfect couple for the second series of Italian Circuit M30.

In despite of the whimsical wind, the Committee Race and its President Fabio Barrasso were able to complete six very technical races sailed in different weather conditions.

On the final day just two races completed. In the morning race the unpredictable northern breeze splits the fleet on the two sides of the course but at the windward mark all boats are very close again.

The leading boats are Mitsubishi Electric of Gasperoni-Franchini-Zaoli and MON 01 of Farneti-Musone fighting to the death at all rounding marks but finally MON01, helmsman Francesco Farneti  with Lorenzo Bressani as tactician, gains the upper hand followed by Magic Mitsubishi Electric e terzo Diletta of Mauro Mocchegiani.
Vain efforts of the Committee Race to sail immediately a second race, abandoned during the first windward leg because of lack of wind.

After one hour the weather conditions are slightly better and six knots of westerly wind are enough to drop the answering pennant and have a second race. The wind speed is stable but the port wind shift during the downwind leg requires a course change for the next windward mark.

Similarly to the yesterday last race Diletta and Black Rose are leading the fleet while MON01, under the pressure of the talented Magic Mitsubishi Electric manages the yaw better than yesterday.

This result of Diletta gives to Mauro Moccheggiani (tactician Andrea Casale) the victory of the second series of the Italian Circuit, three points ahead to MON01 of Farneti-Musone and five to Black Rose del Black Rose Sailing Team with Paolo Montefusco as tactician.

After 15 races and 12 valid scores, MON01 of Farneti-Musone has 6 points followed by Diletta of Moccheggiani with 25 tied with Mitsubishi Electric di Gasperoni-Franchini-Zaoli.

Andrea Casale, Diletta’s tactician arriving on the dock: “We were not expecting a similar performance. Mauro was really great and the crew that works well together gave us the possibility to make the difference. We are very pleased with this result also because we were racing against very competitive crews. Furthermore, it’s a good motivation for the European Championship.”
Lorenzo Bressani, tactician of MON 01: “One more positive result for our team. All competitors were faster than few weeks ago and the results show that. We had very good boats and excellent tacticians providing difficult and very technical races. Our aim now is the European Championship in Venice where the fleet will be even more competitive.”

The Italian Circuit M30 2008 is supported by MGM the World of the Wine, a leading company in the wine industry, with real presence in eleven Italian regions and a well defined target: to create new blends of Italian wines offering the best value for money and the greatest potential for the domestic and international markets.

The M30 fleet moves to Venice for the top event of the season, the European Championship (15-18 May). The Italian Circuit M30 is going to resume to Rimini for last the two stages (27-29 June and 25-27 July).
