Overnight leader Guy Stening and his team on Optimumm held onto their regatta lead to take the M30 Australian Championship after three days of racing on Sydney Harbour and off Sydney Heads. Stening and Optimumm have led the regatta from the first day and won the last race of the series after a very frustrating day of weather for competitors and officials alike.
Day three of racing and the 10 boat M30 fleet from Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales headed for the Macquarie Circle race course off Macquarie Lighthouse. The conditions from Saturday continued with the seven knot breeze swinging from the east to the south and torrential rain blanketing the two nautical mile windward leeward course. | |

Team Groovederci
|
Deneen Demourkas from Santa Barbra, California led her team on USA 706 Groovederci, to a strong class win at this year’s Key West Race Week against a field of 15 M/30’s. 2008 Key West Race Week was a challenging week this year due to two fast moving cold fronts that brought big breeze at the very beginning of the week and on the last day of racing. |
Monday’s racing was canceled due to too much wind with gust in the upper 30’s. In between the two fronts Key West was stuck under a high pressure system where there was not enough wind to sail on Wednesday where the breeze was way too light and unstable to get quality racing in. Peter Craig and his Premier Racing team put in a great effort to get in eight high quality races.
